The IV Sedation Dentistry Process

In conscious IV sedation, our dentists administer anesthesia through an intravenous (IV) line. This reduces your anxiety and induces a state of relaxation, but most of our patients stay conscious throughout the procedure. This is ideal for intensive or complex procedures such as full mouth dental implants and tooth extractions. In fact, White Wolf Dental is one of the few offices in Port Orange that has a certificate to perform this type of sedation dentistry. Do note that you will need someone to drive you home from your appointment if you choose IV sedation.

Our Other Dental Anesthesia Options

Oral Conscious Sedation (OCS)

Oral sedation dentistry is one of our most popular methods of dental anesthesia. Before your appointment, we’ll give you one or more pills to take. The goal is to induce a state of relaxation during your visit, instead of knocking you out completely. With this dental anesthesia, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your procedure.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

For many procedures, you can inhale nitrous oxide (or “laughing gas”) through a mask before your treatment. With this form of sedation dentistry, you’ll stay alert but relaxed the whole time. The best part is that it wears off soon after the mask is removed, so you’ll be able to drive yourself home and get back to your day.
